Had an ERC review last quarter where three “new hires” were paid to the same bank account — like triplets sharing one wallet — and reconciling 941/941-X to HRIS and state UI wages made it obvious. Certifications help with structure, but the quickest tell in ERC payrolls is a tight pivot on routing/account numbers and start dates clustering around eligibility windows.

Quick tip that helped me: the QuickBooks Online test drive (QuickBooks Online Plus Redirect) lets you rehearse AP/AR, reconciliations, and print clean reports for interviews… I used it to bring a one-page “vendor aging + notes” sample to a staffing screen — it landed me the assignment, though it’s no substitute for logged hours or a cert.

But i fingerprint every PDF at intake and again post‑OCR with SHA‑256, and attach an ExifTool dump (https://exiftool.org) to the Zotero item and a CaseFleet custom field; when someone pushes on ‘metadata drift,’ I can show hashes match and the only deltas are text layer/XMP. Small caveat: normalize timestamps to UTC when comparing dumps so you don’t chase daylight‑saving ghosts.

Putting a slice of the 25 VR&E slots into 2nd‑shift inventory control/cycle count lead in Kent/Auburn worked for us; vets with basic Excel + WMS ramp fast and cut shrink. We also placed two into hospital revenue integrity/charge audit tech (nights), using the 40 coaching hours to drill pivots and ‘variance write‑off’ language — agree with @rmartin195 that ops converts faster. Caveat: hospital onboarding drags unless HR pre‑clears HIPAA modules.

After ‘FineReader 16’, I sign PDFs and use S3 Object Lock; metadata challenges fizzled, adds minor cost.
